Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
